Description There are six Christmas markets respectively the Golden Roof, the Marktplatz, in the Maria-Theresien-Straße and in the districts of Wilten, St. Nikolaus and Hungerburg: 800 meters above sea level foot of the majestic Nordkette. Each has a special atmosphere and a good character. 200 Christmas stalls and dozens of events around the Advent make the months of November and December in Innsbruck really exceptional.

From the center of the old city opens a wonderful view of the surrounding mountain scenery. The Golden Roof market is also the oldest and largest of the city. The 70 stands offering handicrafts and Christmas decorations, form an avenue of honor to the architectural symbol of Innsbruck. Decorated with thousands of Swarovski crystals, Christmas tree shines the top of its 14 meters. An enchanting universe marvels smaller: legendary characters and reading aloud await visitors in the "Alley of Tales" and the "Alley of the Giants".

At the Marktplatz, a carousel of yesteryear charms and clowns theater enliven the banks of the Inn and light of the stars in the eyes of children. December 5, 2016, St. Nicolas is invited to the festivities, and on 20 December, the baby Jesus, followed by his 500 shepherds and little angels, find its place in the old city.

To reach Hungerburg and the highest market perched Innsbruck you take the new cable car Nordkette. Up there, a picturesque Christmas market awaits you and, of course, a wonderful view of Innsbruck, the regional capital. With puppet theater, story readings and petting zoo, the children are thrilled. And all marvel at the impressive Christmas tree Swarovski.

In the Maria-Theresien-Straße, the market is lined with 1000 lights. The exhibitors offer products worldwide.

As for the charming town square Wilten, it becomes the season of Advent in a real craft Christmas market. If you prefer smaller markets, we also recommend that the St. Nikolaus neighborhood.
